Woman and young child found dead in Ipswich as 17-year-old boy held

A woman and child have died suddenly in Ipswich sparking a police investigation with a 17-year-old boy under arrest.

Police were called to a property in the town at 5pm today and discovered the body of a woman. A young child was also found at the address and they were treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

Suffolk Police said next of kin for both had been informed. They have not disclosed if they were related. A statement from the force said: “A police scene is in place whilst an investigation into the circumstances of the deaths continues.”As a result of subsequent enquires connected to the investigation a 17-year-old male youth from Ipswich has been arrested by police.

“He has been taken to Martlesham Police Station where he will be questioned by officers.” The cause of death for the woman and the young child has not been revealed. It is not known what the teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of.

Earlier today a man in his 20s was stabbed to death in Leyton in north east London.
