I didn’t receive your call – Late Lt Col Sakaba’s widow shuts down Atiku’s claims

Late Lt Col Sakaba’s widow has debunked Atiku’s claims of putting a call across to her, just after a 6 Division delegation led by Brig. Gen SI Igbinomwanhia COS HQ 6 Division visited her on behalf of the GOC 6 Div/LCC JTF OPDS Maj Gen J Sarham.

A tweet on Atiku’s Twitter page read;

This Christmas, I urge all Nigerians to spare a thought for our military on the frontlines on the war on terror. I had cause to telephone Lt. Col. Ibrahim Sakaba’s widow this Yuletide. I am touched by her devotion & love for her husband who paid the supreme sacrifice for Nigeria.

Ibrahim Sakaba, a lieutenant-colonel, died alongside at least 117 of his fellow soldiers following a catastrophic invasion of their base in northern Borno State on November 18.

Colleagues hailed the bravery of all the soldiers who lost their lives in the attack. But they hailed Mr Sakaba in particular for his leadership at the Nigerian Army 157 Task Force Battalion in Metele, where Boko Haram terrorists launched a surprise attack against them at about 6:00 p.m. that Sunday.

A senior military colleague who knew Mr Sakaba described him as a selfless commander.
